Capstone Project

Do you have a backlog of IT projects?

The local higher education institutions can help! Mid-State Technical College, Northcentral Technical College, and UW-Stevens Point are all looking for quality real life capstone projects from local employers for their IT students.

CWITA members can benefit from participating in a capstone project by:
  • Increasing awareness of your company with local IT talent
  • Gaining direct access to build relationships with students
  • Completing a company project using outside IT resources

Project Timelines

Each higher education institutions offer 1 or 2 capstone course per year. To accommodate the academic calendar project ideas need to be submitted in advance of the semester.

  • April 1st –┬ádeadline for project ideas to be completed in the fall semester.
  • October 1st – deadline for project ideas to be completed in the spring semester.

Employer Expectations

Employers need to commit an appropriate employee to participate in the capstone project process. Each educational institution runs their capstone programs slightly differently but typically the employer will need to commit to providing oral and/or written feedback on student work a couple of times throughout the semester. This feedback may be gathered through sprint review or presentation sessions.

If you have a project that fits the guidelines provided above please submit your project proposal using the link below. The higher education institutions will review your project proposal and contact you for additional information.
